About CLIPCO

CLIP, Cupertino Language Immersion Program, is a public Mandarin immersion program within the Cupertino Union School District (CUSD), where students learn core academic subjects in both English and Mandarin while building bilingual skills and cultural understanding.

CLIPCO, Cupertino Language Immersion Program Community Organization, is a parent-led nonprofit that supports the Mandarin portion of CLIP not fully funded by CUSD, helping sustain the program through fundraising, volunteer involvement, and community support.

2024 Hoffmann Award

CLIP was honored with the Glenn W. Hoffmann Exemplary Program Award by the Santa Clara County School Boards Association (SCCSBA), recognizing the program’s impact on student learning and its strong engagement with the school and parent community through Mandarin immersion education.

CLIP in the Broader CUSD Conversation

CUSD board has discussed over a long period how to best tackle its budgetary issues and low enrollment issues. CLIP and its future have been tied to many of these discussions. We consider the discussion of CLIP’s future central to the language immersion program’s ongoing improvement and to the education of our students. It is our hope that the collected information here will be able to help parents understand the discussions that happened.
